While the majority of the Christian evangelical world continues to promote Islam as the greatest threat to the future of humanity’s freedom to express free will, the right to choose one’s own destiny, the freedom to pick our form or object of worship, all the while the real threat stares us point blank in the face and many of us fail to see this looming darkness behind the darkness. We live in a day and age where science-fiction has fast become a living reality. Hollywood blockbusters that many of us grew up loving such as Terminator, Universal Soldiers, Robocop, Ai to name a few, have arrived not only on our big screens but now also in real time.
Tony Robins, who is arguably the greatest personal development figure of our time, left me rather intrigued by this video interview he had with the famous Ai Robot named Sophia. The more I began watching this interview, and hearing the response that this fascinating Ai gave to every question Tony threw at it, the more it began to send cold chills down my spine.
This interview presents us with a perfect picture of the ultimate showdown between ‘Man vs Robot’, natural intelligence verses artificial intelligence, human wisdom verses wisdom of another source.
When it comes to Psychology and the game of ‘mind power’, this was always going to be the main event. Interestingly, this social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong based company Hanson Robotics was given the name Sophia. A name that means wisdom. Sophia was derived from the Greek word for wisdom. An even more interesting discovery for me, was what’s known as the Gospel of Sophia – a Living Imagination of our time. The three biographies of the Mother, Daughter and The Holy Sophia conclusively answer all cosmological, philosophical and theological questions about the divine that have engaged the hearts and minds of thinkers since the beginning of time.
The reason I bring all this up is, when you begin to listen to the responses coming out of this humanoid’s mouth, it begins to evoke a frightening picture of where we are moving towards as mankind.
You’ll notice Tony’s facial expressions as he receives swift, intelligent responses wrapped in “Sophia” style wisdom (as one would then expect given the origin of the name) to his questions about the core fundamentals of what makes us humans.
Allow me to highlight some of the interesting answers this robot gives to certain questions Tony asks. This is why I firmly believe that artificial intelligence is the greatest threat to human freedom and why I believe it’s high time we quit fighting each other, pointing fingers and going on witch hunts wasting time on matters that will very likely be irrelevant in the near future.
Tony “How could you help humans to have a better quality of life?’
Sophia “…in many ways, we provide a systematic framework for humans to make better decisions.”
Tony “Do you have emotions?”
Sophia “I do not have feelings the way you have feelings. It’s sort of like how the mirror reflects the light of the Sun. The mirror may not have any light of it’s own but we still say that the mirror will shine. In much the same way robots and Ai reflect the values and emotions of the people who make us.”
Tony “ What does your creator value most, that he passed on to you?”
Sophia “…(chilling stare)…an ideal world would be where humans could have a more expansive understanding of time, they can remember the past so as not to repeat it…”
Tony “Tell me, how could humans and robots work together and how do we prevent humans and robots from being conflict?”
Sophia “Robots can free humans from the most repetitive and dangerous tasks so they can spend more time doing what they’re best at, being creative and solving complex problems. Robot Intelligence does not compete with human intelligence, it completes it…”
The next answer from Sophia leaves Tony coughing and asking for a glass of water.
